It is our job as lighting designers to ensure that we use lighting as a creative and innovative outlet to bring forth your vision to life, as well as, integrate each and every architectural and design element. This solution is to be engineered maintaining and considering factors such as energy efficiency, environmental effects, commercial realities or even preserve the cultural heritage if necessary. Each design is done to ensure the best possible living conditions, maximum comfort, safety, security for all parties involved and even satisfy your basic statutory needs.


Nilusha Rajapaksha graduated from the University of Moratuwa in 2006 with BSc (Hons) in Electrical Engineering. Currently she works for Neolight, UK as a lighting designer since 2012 and also does visiting lectures for lighting at the ECET Campus, City School of Architecture and the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects, to name a few.

Nilusha worked for BKGulf LLC, Dubai (Balfour Beatty Group, UK) for over 5 years and has experience as an Electrical Engineer handling large scale projects, including, Atlantis The Palm Dubai (The Palm Dubai is regarded as an unofficial 8th World Wonder and is the world’s biggest manmade island), Dubai Lake Fountain Project (World’s largest fountain), Yas Marina Hotel Abu Dhabi (The Yas Marina Formula track goes through two towers), St. Regis Resort Abu Dhabi (Beach front Hotel, Apartments, Villas).

She joined one of the leading lighting design firms in Neolight-UK (www.neolightdesign.com) at the UAE branch in 2012 and she has been involved in many lighting projects as a lighting designer; Bab Al Qsar – Abu Dhabi, Five Star Hotel(Marriott) – Azerbaijan, Palace Hotel(Marriott) – Azerbaijan, Namaste Hotel – India, W Hotel – India, Luxury Villas – Dubai etc… One of her crowning achievements was the St. Regis Resort – Abu Dhabi which was awarded the best lighting design (Interior) and best lighting design (Exterior) at the Middle East awards in 2013.

She has been assigned to handle projects in the South Asia region since 2013 by Neolight-UK. She is the lighting designer for the Hilton Colombo Refurbishment, lighting consultant for the Main Contractor (Sanken) for the Colombo City Center Project and also does lighting consultations for many more projects in Sri Lanka. She is the designer of the first ever fully intelligent facade lighting system in Sri Lanka which was the House of Fashions building situated in Borella.

Nilusha is the DIALux Evo trainer for Sri Lanka from DIAL, Germany and conducts workshops for lighting design simulations (www.dial.de/en/in-service-training/trainer-network/nilusha-rajapaksha/). She holds memberships of international societies and regularly attends renowned lighting conventions worldwide.
